Healing Arthritis with Food

Healing arthritis with food may sound a bit out there to you.  Restorative foods also may sound like a foreign concept to you.  Information on food typically focuses on the foods we should not eat.  We are all too familiar with these and their negative affects.  However, there are many foods that deserve attention for the good things they can provide.  Food can heal.  We have not been educated enough on the power of food.  We usually think about eating healthy mostly to lose weight.   What most of us don’t realize are “healthy” foods” also have the power to heal.  These whole natural foods have numerous benefits and can help heal arthritis and other diseases.  A better understanding of the healing power of food may make us want to eat more of it!

Restorative foods are those foods that give the body what it needs allowing for optimal functioning.  These whole, natural, unprocessed foods are the key to good nutrition and healing arthritis with food.  Natural or whole simple means food that has not been processed, added to or stripped of its nutrients.  It is food eaten in the form it grew.  Healing food comes from the ground, tree, ocean or animal, unaltered by man. Another way food heals is by decreasing free radicals in the body.  Free radicals are unstable molecules in the body that can cause a lot of damage.   Some free radicals in the body are normal and necessary but high amounts create disease and make arthritis worse. Free radicals are kept in check by foods rich in antioxidants such as fruits and vegetables.
