please help me someone! ?
Unfortunately I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis which is a chronic and often progressive condition that primarily involves pain and inflammation of the joints of the spine. AS affects the joints between the vertebrae and sacroiliac joints (the area where your spine meets the pelvis). Dr. told me that I must be on ENBREL is a type of protein called tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker that blocks the action of a substance your immune system makes called TNF. People with an immune disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis have too much TNF in their bodies. ENBREL can reduce the amount of active TNF in the body to normal levels, to help treat your illness. But in doing so ENBREL can also lower the ability of your immune system to fight infections. and lifelong treatment. Has anyone been on ENBREL and if yes, how did you think? I am soo scared please help
I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis, I know can be a frightening and confusing time. I was struggling with psoriatic spondylitis since I am 19 and tried many treatments, including acupuncture, traditional Chinese herbal medicine, NSAIDs, corticosteroids, methotrexate and I am currently on Enbrel. I had a number reactions to other treatments namely methotrexate and NSAIDs, and it seems to have hypersensitive to most drugs. It Having said that, my reaction was mild in comparison to Enbrel, but was nausia and the general weakness of a few days after injection (a times a week), I have not experience any relief, because it can take up to 6 months for results, although some people begin to feel better in as little as two weeks. You can take one (50 mg) or two (25mg) weekly injections. Because it is a drug very expensive, higher for 1500 to 2000 per month, it will most likely need pre-approval from your insurance, it may take several days or weeks. Fortunately There are programs that can help speed up the process and / or send you one month of free medicine, no co-payment which can sometimes be hundreds or dollars per month, and if your copay is too high to allow you to ask your rheumatologist quick help on that card will take care of copay. Enliven Services toll has (1-888-436-2735) you can call and speak to a nurse for any questions or concerns you may have about Enbrel, they can also help with your insurance can often be a headache. I wish you all the best of your AS, and I hope if you decide to start Enbrel if it works for you. If nothing else remember to stay positive, even if it can be difficult when it is painful look, it is still very important. If there is anything I can do to help you, please e-mail you will, and again vows
