Cat Arthritis. What is the best treatment you have seen used? Any experiences that you can share?

hmm I would love to learn of an holistic diet plan for the home. Something to think about.
Their are unfortunately not as many options for cats as there are for dogs, as cats cannot metabolize many/most of the drugs used for dogs, such as any of the NSAIDs. While effective in dogs, they are harmful to cats. Usually a glucosamine supplement like Cosequin is prescribed. Also helpful is a heated bed. I’ve not heard of using steroids long term in cats with arthritis – the long term use of steroids is really discouraged in cats as they have the nasty potential side effect of causing diabetes. It may be time to seek the opinion of a different vet. Declawing causes early arthritis, so allowing cats to keep their claws really is the best preventative you (or anyone) can do. I’m not sure if the cat in question has been declawed or not, just offering this as additional information.
